Sloppy Joes step up their game. You can bring this childhood dish back to your table, without all the guilt. Same flavor you remember, made with real ingredients in under 20 minutes.
I don't know about you, but when I was a kid we had sloppy joes almost once a week. It was cheap and cheerful, and Mom could get it on the table in minutes. However, mystery meat out of a can.... wasn't the healthiest meal.
I've revamped this childhood favorite, using real ingredients and minimal sodium and sugar. It's a healthier alternative, and you can still get it on the table in a flash!
In a large skillet, brown the meat and onion over medium heat. Stir in the next nine ingredients except the buns. Cover and cook over low heat, about 10 to 15 minutes. The vegetables should be just tender. While the mixture is cooking you can toast the buns. I used pretzel buns here, but any will work. Fill the buns with beef mixture, and serve along side your favorite veggie. Dinner is served.
